Catamarans in Yacht Charter Croatia sail on the same principle as a monohull, but they have a lot more advantages, as stability, security, speed and comfort. Because of its 2 hull and 2 keels, catamarans are extremely stable, secure and fast.
Due to the fact that Catamarans in sailing have minimal slope, they are an ideal choice for people who do not tolerate the sea and its rolling.Because of this stability, you can do all while sailing on Adriatic. Due to the large sail area, catamarans are generally much faster than the sailboats. Because of its twin engines, handling is much easier.
Even they are very large, they have a shallow draft ideal for anchorage in beautiful bays on Adriatic. You can easily enter in places where most sailing boats cannot, closer to the beach and coast where is less crowded.
Catamarans or multihulls are highly demanded for Yacht Charter in Croatia. We suggest booking at least 6 months in advance, because of high interest.
Another advantage of catamaran is the roominess and comfort. It has a large cockpit, large central lounge, a lot more places than the sailboat. We can say that Catamarans for hire in Croatia are blend of comfort and pleasure of sailing. Because of its twin hull catamaran provides more privacy and exceptional views from the elevated salon. On the other hand, it brings a higher charter price and related services, more expensive berths in marinas and harbours.
We offer more than 300 Catamarans for charter in Croatia, known manufacturers such as Lagoon, Nautitech, Leopard, Privilege, etc.
About Catamaran Charter in Croatia
Catamarans are the new hit in the Adriatic; a way to enjoy sailing along with the spaciousness of a smaller home. We offer catamarans in Croatia that can accommodate up to ten people plus crew – with a width of almost 30 ft they are a sailing five bedroom apartment! Leave your children on deck without worrying they could fall overboard when the boat is leaning; let your friends sunbath while you sail the boat by yourself, or better yet let the skipper do it. Even in rough weather you will appreciate the stability and the roomy sitting areas no sailboat of similar size can provide.
Catamarans are a class of boats that has two hulls, generally equal in size. Hull speeds are very high, making them a good choice for recreational uses.
They are in general, faster than single hull boats. This is due to several factors, the most important of which is the hull shape. Catamarans are also very light, which further reduces drag and displacement. Stability of catamaran comes from the wide beam length. Another great advantage is that they are wider than monohulls. Given this fact a catamarans interior and deck are much more spacious. Since a catamaran has more room it creates felling like you are at home. Heads and showers are separate; cabins provide enough room for spacious and comfortable beds. They are ideal for long cruising as they are very spacious and comfortable.
Although the principles of sailing are the same for both catamarans and monohulls, there are some “peculiarities” to sailing catamarans. Discovering catamaran Croatia charter and rentals with SkipperCity.
- Catamarans can be harder to tack (turn through the wind). Because they are lighter in proportion to their sail size, they have less momentum to carry them through the turn when they are head to wind. Correct use of the jib sail is often essential in successfully completing a tack without ending up stuck in irons (pointing dead into the wind and sailing backwards).
- They have a higher average speed.
- Catamarans are less likely to capsize in the classic ‘beam-wise’ manner but often have a tendency to ‘pole-axe’ (or ‘pitchpole’) instead – where the leeward (downwind) bow sinks into the water and the boat ‘trips’ over forward, leading to a capsize.
Teaching for new sailors is usually carried out in monohulls as they are thought easier to learn to sail, a mixture of all the differences mentioned probably contributes to this.
Catamarans, and multihulls in general, are normally faster than single-hull boats for four reasons:
- each hull of a catamaran is (typically) thinner in cross section than those of monohulls;
- catamarans are lighter due to the fact there is no keel counterweight.
- catamarans have a wider beam (the distance from one side of the boat to the other), which makes them more stable and therefore able to carry more sail area per unit of length than an equivalent monohull.
- the greater stability means that the sail is more likely to stay upright in a gust, drawing more power than a monohull’s sail which is more likely to heel (lean) over.
A catamaran is most likely to achieve its maximum speed when its forward motion is not unduly disturbed by wave action. This is achieved in waters where the wavelength of the waves is somewhat greater than the waterline length of the hulls, or it is achieved by the design piercing the waves. In either case pitching (rocking horse-like motion) is reduced. This has led to it being said that catamarans are especially favourable in coastal waters, where the often sheltered waters permit the boat to reach and maintain its maximum speed.
Catamarans make good cruising and long distance boats: The Race (around the world, in 2001) was won by the giant catamaran Club Med skippered by Grant Dalton. It went round the earth in 62 days at an average speed of eighteen knots.
Catamarans over 14 meters provide comfort and pleasant vacation in luxury and style. These types of yachts are ideal for long vacations; they are mostly with 5 cabins, some with 3 or 4 –owner versions.
Price range is between 5,000 to 20,000 EUR per week.
Large variety of catamarans mostly with 4 cabins, but there also some models with 3 or 5 cabins. Mostly comfort line, but also luxury and economic.
Price range is between 3,000 to 8,000 EUR per week.
Models mostly with 3 or 4 cabins, ideally for groups of friends, couples, families. Great comfort, price range from 2,000 to 5,000 EUR / week.
