May is an ideal month for sailing in Croatia as it is considered pre-season, offering cheaper yacht charter rates. Sea temperatures are suitable for swimming and winds remain steady without being as strong.

Sailing Croatia on a luxury private yacht charter allows you the freedom to experience its stunning Adriatic coast, taking in beautiful beaches and ancient cities while sailing among over 1,000 islands. Most gulet yachts include a full crew with professional chefs to prepare delicious meals on board; drinks and dinner are usually paid for with cash in local currency kuna (kuna is typically used). Most sailboats are typically rented weekly starting Saturday.

Between April and September you can still expect warm sea temperatures without the high season crowds or atmosphere. Sailing around Croatia’s islands during the day while experiencing its towns and wineries at nighttime is the ideal way to discover all its riches.

September is an early part of the season and as such prices for yachts tend to drop, while there may also be discounts available on airfare. Days may be shorter but still very pleasant with warm water temperatures perfect for swimming and steady winds.

An expert local skipper is essential in making your holiday experience unforgettable, providing advice and recommendations tailored specifically to weather conditions, while leading you away from busy parts of islands to hidden coves and beaches. For novice sailors, renting a skippered yacht may be best.
